I should totally be grading papers right now. Instead, I’m sitting on the couch with my little Rooster trying to remember everything that I filed away in the back of my brain to blog about… but I’m pretty sure that file got shredded today when I was trying to organize our office. Darn.
Some of you might be wondering about our decision on the immunology issue. Basically, since there have been no major changes in Ryan’s health we haven’t done anything about it. On November 25th Ryan got a cold. I know this to be the exact date because I actually typed the word “boogers” on iCal so we could chart her progress. Even though she had a boogie nose for at least 4 weeks (for real), there was no fever or cough. I emailed the immunology doctor that spoke at the last 11q conference in San Diego and sent him all of Ryan’s results and he also said that the next step for her would be a trial run of IVIG if her health didn’t improve. For us, a month-long cold without a fever is a huge improvement!
Here are some other random things:
Ryan saw the eye doctor last week and her eyes have worsened so we’ve been trying to keep her current glasses on her as much as possible and she’s getting a new pair with stronger lenses soon!
Although she’s still not walking independently, Ryan is using a posture walker (borrowed from Help Me Grow) and zooming all over the house! A couple of weeks ago she just decided that she was going to become a pro at it (after weeks of just being able to go in a straight line – sometimes) and now she can turn corners, back up, and even run! It’s so funny. I really need to upgrade this blog so I can post video!
Also, Ryan is communicating so much more with signs. Sometimes she will string several together – “Eat. More. Please.”
Our newly finished basement is finally coming together. The girls (especially Charlie) have been helping me organize everything and assisting with crafts to decorate. Although we still don’t have furniture for adults to sit on, the girls’ side looks amazing!
Finally, Christmas was awesome! The girls were so excited about Santa coming and absolutely adorable on Christmas morning. Ryan opened some presents on her own but still got lots of help from big sis! They both got tons of nice things and are loving playing with their new toys. Every year gets better and better! I hope all of you had as nice of a Christmas with your loved ones as we did!
